UK retailer puts price on Nintendo's Wii U ahead of an official RRP

Wii U games will cost around the same as current HD titles - £40 - according to numerous online UK retailers, while the first to go live with an estimated price for the console itself is ShopTo, which thinks the Wii U will carry an RRP of £279.99 in the UK.

The retailer adds the proviso that the price is subject to change pending an official RRP from Nintendo, which has talked up the value proposition of the Wii U at E3 this week.

A recent report suggested the Wii U's price would be over ¥30,000 (£250) - which ShopTo's guesstimation most certainly is.

I'm just not convinced. In a years time the PS4 & Xbox 720 (?) will blow this away IMO.

They normally do, Nintendo are so far behind its getting embarssing. Its like they just don't want to grow up, They give eveyone great ideas and sony and microsoft just make them 100% better.

In saying that the Wii out sold the 360 & PS3.

Yeah that's because they speak to the non-hardcore gamers & parents and people like you, publik, the kind who buy for the sake of buying it so they have it, lol :p

I have to completely agree. I got the Wii for my daughter who's four and she hated it. She literally asked me to trade it in for games for the xbox lol. She is however in love with the kinect. Wii may outsell because it seem like they have the jump with new innovations lately but then Microsoft just improves upon there idea. Plus lots of parents, myself included, buy the Wii simply because its more family friendly. And don't get me wrong I LOVE nintendo, I still have my NES in my living room hooked up and working, they are just to far behind.

N64 mate - Ocarina was the best one by miles!

Well the new ones anyway..... although I didn't get around to playing the latest one.

As for the new WiiU thing - not likely.... looks like a rip off to me especially as the next gen PS and Xbox are round the corner!

It's simple for me... no cheevos = no sale. LOL
