A few details about Grand Theft Auto V are swirling around the net, carrying the distinctive whiff of bullshit about them. Still, they’re interesting talking points.

The info apparently comes from someone who “recently got sacked from Rockstar North for general misconduct.” A friend of the ex-Rockstar employee got hold of the details before posting it on the Gamespot forums. So goes the story, anyway. The post has since been deleted.

According to the source, the playable character in Grand Theft Auto V will be someone called Albert de Silva. He’s the “rich guy” featured in the first trailer. Half Hispanic, De Silva is part of a gang from Vice City. He has a son, a “stereotypical CoD player” who is “lazy, useless and shouts racial abuse online.”

Previous rumours have linked Albert de Silva with the lead role.

Apparently, the map will be five times bigger than GTA IV, with Los Santos taking up around half of the total area. Unlike GTA IV, you will be able to fly a variety of planes. Cars and weapons will be customisable. You will be able to take drugs. Smoking weed on the street will give you a one star wanted rating.

Multiplayer will support up to 32 players, with players able to form gangs. who will be ranked by reputation. These gangs will carry out missions including holding up a laundry and stealing weapons from the military.

The source reckons Grand Theft Auto V is lined up for a May 2013 release. At least six months of core development are needed before a more specific window can be set. The game will be playable at E3 this year.

So look, unless it hasn’t already been made clear enough, these details are probably not true. Believable, but still not true. Rockstar has yet to officially reveal any info on the game and the source’s story seems a bit iffy. So take everything you’ve read above as unlikely.

All that aside, however, there's some interesting talking points amongst the info. What do you make of this vision of GTA V?

As long as they don't turn into a Saints Row type game, I think with the way all those details sound its going to be amazing.

that sounds interesting tho, kinda like they have turned the multiplayer into red dead redemption

I thougt that when I read the story, I loved Red Dead Redemption esp the Multiplayer, so if its true that will be wikid. Even more excited now, lol

wtf may 2013..? are you kidding.. why not this year I swear 2013 is when the next xbox will most likely come out... unless it will be on there which I doubt... it must be BS tbh if rockstar dont bring it out this year they are idiots because GTA 4 cant be played for another year its just to old even fanboys must be on their 7000th play through

Yea I'm like WTF at May 2013 too but it's just rumours I've read of November 11th and December 23rd and of course May 2013.

Once Max Payne 3 comes out Rockstar will give more details but up to now all they have released is the trailer and nothing else!

Rockstar normally just put all effort in to promoting one game at a time so once max Payne is out we will start to hear more like ninja said.

I definitely say that would be true. I would see GTA V like that. I'm just unsure of the release date though. I saw a screenshot somewhere else that had October I think. I really hope we don't have to wait until May! But, I don't mind..
