Microsoft has claimed ownership of a leaked document detailing the company’s next-generation plans.
The document, which was written in 2010, advises that the next Xbox should release in 2013 and recommends Blu-ray compatibility, augmented reality glasses, new and improved Kinect hardware and SmartGlass tech, all for $299.99.
While the legitimacy of the document was initially questioned, Microsoft’s actions since have confirmed that yes, the document is real. It may not be entirely in line with current plans, but it does belong to the company.
The file itself first leaked over the weekend, prompting Microsoft to distribute notices asking for it to be removed. The notices cite copyright infringement, something that can only be claimed if the company owns the material in question.
Confirmation comes via the takedown request issued by Microsoft lawyers to Czech Republic website Ihned.cz. A similar notice was also sent to Dropbox. Translated into English, the Ihned notice reads as follows:
Microsoft has received information that the domain listed above, which appears to be on servers under your control, is offering unlicensed copies of, or is engaged in other unauthorized activities relating to copyrighted works published by Microsoft.
