Don't get too excited just yet, but if the promotional trailer for Gamescom 2012 is any kind of an indication, Rockstar Games could be preparing to take Grand Theft Auto V to the show in Cologne, Germany next month.
It's wild speculation based entirely upon a split-second glimpse of a sliver of GTA V footage taken from the debut trailer (see below for trailer), which was originally revealed back in November of last year. Nothing has been heard from Rockstar regarding Grand Theft Auto V since, and as expected, it was a no-show at E3.
We wouldn't be surprised if Rockstar skipped Gamescom this August too, despite what's been put into the Gamescom trailer at the 1 minute 50 seconds mark. You can view the trailer below and make your own mind up, but we remain doubtful that we'll see anything of Grand Theft Auto V until later in the year.

[Update] We've been sent a response, and it's much as we expected. "I'm afraid we don't comment on rumour or speculation," Rockstar told us. Let's wait until Gamescom this August and see what happens, eh?
